If your Mega Shot gun does not perform the Zoom feature in Game mode please follow the steps below.
- On the gun harness there is a black ground wire and a white wire with a red mark on it just next to the black ground wire. These are the two wire that come off the 5 pin gun harness to the zoom button micro switch. You can test for continuity from these two wires through the switch. When the button is pressed in you should have a closed circuit and it should be normally closed.
- If you do not get continuity thru the switch then remove the micro switch’s access panel which is on the front grip of the gun on the right side. To do this use a 2.5mm Allen hex key. You will be able to test both sides of the wire harness to see which wire is damaged or if the micro switch itself is the issue.
- If you find that you do not have continuity in the wires, please check the harness further there is also a 2 pin molex connection for the zoom button just under the scope mount. To access this and to change out the ir laser you need to remove the scope from the gun at the gun to ring mount location. There you can check the 2 pin molex connection to the rest of the harness. if you can continuity there and not all the way to the rest of the harness then replace the gun harness.
- If you have a good switch signal and you have continuity in the gun harness from the zoom button switch to the end of the gun harness ( 5 pin connector) then please check the game harness that the gun harness plugs into. this harness changes the 5 pin connector to a 4 pin harness that goes to the Camera board of the game. The other pin ( 5th pin from gun harness) is the zoom signal wire that continues to the game’s I/O board. Check this harness as it supplies the gun with it’s common ground and then the signal line from this connector goes to the io board for the zoom signal. If this secondary harness show continuity thru it then the issue will most likely be the i/o board and will need to be replaced.
