If your gun on MEGA SHOT will not fire follow the steps below to diagnose the issue.
- If the gun will not shot in Game mode ( Game asks you to aim at the screen) and the Zoom function is not working in game mode then the issue is most likely a bad IR laser. This can be tested by using an IR camera to test the laser or if one is not available you can use your cell phone camera to see if the ir laser is working. If the ir laser is working the issue will be either calibration of the gun or an issue with camera board not picking up the laser ( due to too much light in the area of the game or behind the game, or an issue with the camera board itself ).
- If the gun is not firing in game mode and the Zoom function is working on the gun you need to check the gun harness and switch. On the gun harness the two wires that go from the 5 pin connector at the end of the harness up to the trigger micro switch are the Black and the Yellow wires. You can check continuity for the whole trigger system by putting your voltmeter probs on the two wires and pulling the trigger of the gun. The circuit should be normally open and when you pull the trigger it should be a closed circuit. If you do not get continuity in the circuit you can test each wire individually by accessing the triggers micro switch by removing the access panel on the right side of the gun at the handle. It should be held in play with two 2.5 Hex headed Allen screws.
- If The gun harness and trigger switch circuit are all checking out properly then check the continuity ion the harness from the gun harness 5 pin connector to the game. The signal line for the trigger is the yellow line from the gun harness and it going to the “DO” position of the I/O board for Gun 1 and to the “CS” position for Gun 2. This port is the larger of the two ports the middle of the I/O board.
